These Terms govern your use of Backline. By registering or using the status checker, you agree to them.
What Backline does
Backline checks a label or distributor name against a reference table we maintain by hand, to flag whether you may be excluded from, covered by, or unconfirmed for major-label AI licensing deals. It also lets you register into a public, verified count of independent artists.
What Backline does not do
Backline does not verify, and never claims to detect, whether any specific song or recording was actually used to train any AI model. Status results are based on label and distributor affiliation only, not on usage detection of any kind.
Accuracy
Our reference table is maintained by hand and may be incomplete or out of date. Status results are informational, not legal advice. You should confirm your actual licensing and royalty status directly with your label, distributor, or performing rights organization.
Registration and the public count
Registration is currently free. Each registration is manually reviewed before it is added to the public count. We may decline or remove a registration we cannot verify.
No paid services yet
This site does not currently process payments or sell any paid product. If we introduce paid services in the future, they will come with their own separate terms presented at the time.
Acceptable use
You agree not to submit fraudulent registrations, impersonate another artist or rights holder, or attempt to manipulate the public count.
No warranty
This site and its tools are provided as is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Backline is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this site.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction where Backline operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
